Rescue cats from trees? No, Kamloops Fire Rescue was called to rescue a dog stuck in furniture.

Firefighter turned up for a family in need when their dog, Bean, got herself stuck in a couch.

"One of our crews was called last night when a poor little pooch got her head stuck in the reclining mechanism of the couch. We are happy to report that Bean, her owners, and the couch are all doing just fine today," KFR said on a social media post March 25.

When Bean got her neck trapped in the framework of the couch, her owners couldn't retrieve her without hurting her, they told the fire department.

"Within a few minutes, a team showed up and dismantled the couch to get her out," the family said in their statement. "They were really calm and really cared about Bean's safety."

Platoon captain Ken Hart says it's not the type of call they get often, but as a public service, Kamloops firefighters are happy to help whenever they can.

"They managed to dismantle the couch and get Bean out with some tools, but we're prepared to use the Jaws of Life when we have to," Hart said. "Sometimes we get calls like kids stuck in fences and we have to use butter to slide them out, or someone fell out of their wheelchair and they need help up."
