KAMLOOPS - If you’re an actress or actor looking for work nearby, you may be in luck. The Thompson-Nicola Film Commission is currently searching for local talent for a movie being filmed in Kamloops next month.

The casting director is searching for all kinds of roles to be filled, from characters as young as 15 to 50 and older.

“The Bench” is a movie about a young girl facing homelessness and the stereotypes she comes across, says director, Cjay Boisclair.

“It shows the flip-side of what we perceive,” says Boisclair in a news release. “This compelling story is filled with real struggles that tug on your heartstrings and challenge preconceived ideas.”

Not only will the film bring attention to an important issue currently taking place in the city, but will also help boost the Thompson-Nicola region film industry and give new professionals a chance to work with experienced film crews.

“We want to bring attention to our spectacular locations and landscapes,” says Boisclair.

Filming will take place in the city from May 18 to 21. For those looking to submit their audition, you can do so by sending in a recent headshot, demo reel and an acting resume to thebench2018@gmail.com.
