PENTICTON - A local arts and cultural centre was the target of theft earlier this week.

On the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 29, an envelope containing cash was taken from the Shatford Centre’s administration office, Penticton RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says, when a man entered the building and stole $1,600 in cash from ticket sales for a fundraising event.

Wrigglesworth says a video was filmed of the theft, and a clear image of the suspect taken. He is described as white, approximately 5' 7'' tall with light brown, graying hair, balding, wearing an olive-coloured jacket, black and white patterned scarf, blue sweatpants, grey sweatshirt and white runners.

The man is seen entering the administrative office just after the employee left. He is then seen coming out of the office and putting the envelope in his jacket.

Anyone with information that can assist the RCMP in identifying the suspect are asked to call Cst. Simon Bentley at the Penticton RCMP detachment at 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers.
