PENTICTON - The carjacking suspect that prompted a significant RCMP response across Penticton was arrested yesterday, Sept. 25, in Penticton.

"He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing which will take place today," Penticton RCMP media relations officer Const. James Grandy said in a press release.

Police recovered the vehicle stolen, a 2017 Toyota Rav4, near Eckhardt Avenue and Comox Street on Sept. 20.

The vehicle was taken after a motorist was flagged down by a man standing by a motorcycle on Eastside Road around 3 p.m. Sept. 19.

After pointing a firearm at the driver, the man took the vehicle and fled north on Eastside Road.

The motorist was unharmed and called police.

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
