EDMONTON - Helio Castroneves earned his first victory at the Edmonton Indy after three second-place finishes.
The Brazilian driver for Team Penske ran behind Canada's Alex Tagliani for two-thirds of the race.
Castroneves then beat Tagliani out of the final pit stop, took the lead and held on for the checkered flag.
Takuma Sato finished second and Will Power moved 14 spots up the field to wind up third.
Tagliani, from Lachenaie, Que., was fifth to record his best finish of the year.
James Hinchcliffe of Oakville, Ont., was 12th.
Series lead Ryan Hunter-Reay finished seventh. The American driver won the pole but started 11th as a penalty for an unapproved engine change-out.
