PENTICTON - The Young Stars Classic hockey tournament returns to Penticton in September.

The format has changed, as have participating teams, as the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks bring their top prospects to the tournament that this year also includes the elite university teams of the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and CIS Champion University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The Canucks have a deep list of top prospects this year, including Adam Gaudette, Jonathan Dahlen, Olli Juolevi, Kole Lund, Lukas Jasek, Jonah Gadjovich, Guillaume Brisebois, Michael DiPietro, Zack MacEwan and Jalen Chatfield, according to a media release.

“The Young Stars is a fantastic tournament and the City of Penticton does a tremendous job as host. While the format has changed, fans can still expect a lot of excitement and a high level of competition,” Canucks President Trevor Linden says in the release.

The tournament runs Friday, Sept. 7 to Sunday Sept. 9.

Full tournament rosters and ticket information will be posted on the Canucks Young Stars website and the South Okanagan Events Centre website at a later date.
