On Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00 pm, The Central Okanagan Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will host their 3rd Annual Candlelight Vigil of Hope & Remembrance to honour and remember all those who have lost their lives or been injured in an alcohol or drug-related crash.
The Candlelight Vigil serves as a reminder that impaired driving continues to be a senseless and preventable crime. Anyone affected by this tragedy will find friends and understanding as they gather together to remember loved ones at the Laurel Packinghouse, 1304 Ellis Street, Kelowna on October 23rd at 2:00 pm. Impaired driving continues to be the #1 criminal cause of death in Canada – on average 4 citizens are killed and 175 are injured each and every day in Canada.
Victims and survivors of impaired driving crashes, along with family, friends and the general public are invited to join us at the non-denominational ceremony. Special guests include Gillian Phillips, MADD Canada’s Victim Services Manager-Western Region and Deputy Fire Chief Larry Hollier of the Kelowna Fire Department.
Attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring a framed photo of their loved one(s), or themselves if injured, for display during the ceremony and may also prepare a tribute to read if they wish. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a non-profit, grassroots organization committed to stopping impaired driving and supporting the victims of this violent crime. MADD Canada's aim is to offer support services to victims, heighten awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving, and to save lives and prevent injuries on our roads.
