An open casting call is seeking young Indigenous actors across Canada and prior acting experience is not required.
The casting director is looking for a 16-year-old male and 14-year-old female of North American Indigenous heritage for an upcoming U.S. streaming TV series, according to media release from the Thompson Nicola Film Commission.
Parents or legal guardians must submit three attachments to casting director PoPing AuYeung (Mulan, The Meg, Marvel's Shang-Chi and Netflix's Marco Polo).
Submissions will have a brief resume in a Word document, which will provide the full name of the actor, date of birth and current city and country. The resume will also include the parent or guardians' name, phone number and email.
Lastly, the resume will also include the actor's acting experience, martial arts, dance, gymnastic, athletic skills or relevant experience.
A submission should include a clear selfie or headshot of the actor.
The third requirement is a one minute introduction video, filmed with a cell phone and framed from the chest up to clearly show the actor's face.
The actor will state their full name, height, age and phone number, according to the casting call guidelines. They will also talk about any of their previous experience or interests listed in the resume.
Each of the three attachments and subject line of the email should be titled in this format: "Indigenous female 14-Jane Doe-Kamloops."
The deadline for the Canada-wide casting call is May 27, 2021, and they should be sent to opencalls@popingcasting.com.
The submission guidelines state that shooting will take place in North America in 2021, but there are no other specifics revealing what the TV show is or where exactly it will be shot.
