Canada Post has suspended postal delivery to Kelowna due to the Central Okanagan wildfires as of today.
Many areas of British Columbia have been placed on red alert, meaning the areas are too dangerous for Canada Post to send their delivery agents, according to a Canada Post media release.
Chase, Kaleden, Kamloops, Keremeos, Lake Country, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Peachland, Princeton, Scotch Creek, Shalalth, Sorrento and Summerland have also all been put on red alert effective today, Aug. 21.
Boston Bar, Gold Bridge, Seton Portage, West Kelowna were placed on red alert on Friday, Aug. 18.
“The safety of our employees is our number one priority and Red and Yellow delivery service alerts have been issued,” Lisa Liu with Canada Post said in the release.
Updated information on mail availability, delivery and postal services will be posted on the Closures and Service Interruptions web page here.
