A Calgary woman brought a great souvenir back home from her vacation in the Okanagan in the form of a winning lottery ticket.
Lana Burrell was on holiday in Lake Country when she bought the winning Lotto Max Extra ticket from Save-On-Foods on Main Street in April.
It wasn't until she returned to Calgary that she checked the ticket and discovered her $500,000 win.

"I was at home and downloaded BCLC’s Lotto! App... It said I was a winner but I didn’t believe it so I re-checked the numbers on the computer, " Burrell said in a BCLC media release issued today, July 7. "I was so excited."
She promptly told her husband about the win.
"He didn’t believe me at first and thought I was trying to show him a computer issue when I was actually showing him the winning numbers. Once he realized he had a big grin on his face and we high-fived," she said.
Burrell now plans to retire in the near future and is looking forward to taking some online classes for further education.
"This win means the possibility of retirement and that is pretty life-changing," she said.
