Some Hollywood movie types were in the Thompson-Nicola region over the past few weeks filming scenes for an upcoming film.

Lunar Sway is directed by award-winning Canadian filmmaker and casting director Nick Butler.

The dark comedy stars Montreal's Noah Parker and co-stars Liza Weil of Gilmore Girls and How to Get Away With Murder fame and Douglas Smith from Percy Jackson, according to a Thompson-Nicola Film Commission media release issued, Oct. 7.

The story centres on small town desert resident Cliff Parker, played by Parker, who starts on an unexpected adventure with his distanced birth mother in the middle of his own personal struggling relationship, the film commission said.

The production shot in early September at locations in Cache Creek including the Oasis Hotel and Pub, BC Dulay's warehouse bays and the Desert Inn. The Vulture Garage and Baits Motel in Spences Bridge were film locations along with several properties in and around Ashcroft.

"Shooting here has been an incredible experience," Butler said in the release.

The film is expected to be in theatres by late 2025.
