Busy last weekend in October in the South Okanagan

PENTICTON - Something for everyone in the South Okanagan this weekend from ArenaCross, to a fundraising concert and Halloween fun.

Round five of the Canadian National ArenaCross Championships take place at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 7 p.m.to 9 p.m. The eight round professional arena cross series includes an east and west amateur national arena cross championship.

The professionals compete for more than $60,000 in prize money while 20 amateur classes race for a portion of the $25,000 worth of trophies, prizes and series awards in the amateur class. Tickets are $18, $26 and $36, children under 12 are $10, and can be purchased at the Valley FIrst Box Office at the events centre, online at www.valleyfirsttix.com, or by phone at 1-877-763-2849.

Matt Anderson appears at the Dream Cafe Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. in a fundraising event to save the live music venue. Tickets are $100 and include live entertainment and a full buffet. Bar service is available but not included in the ticket price.

Andy’s Animal Acres celebrates Halloween with its annual 101 Pumpkin event on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be apple bobbing, marshmallow roasting, pony rides and a pumpkin carving competition. The event features music by Mack Station with photographer Johan Wallstrom on hand to take pictures of the kids' Halloween costume photos. Tim Hortons mobile truck will also be on site for this final day of the 2016 season at the petting farm on Three Mile Road, just off Naramata Road. Bring your own carving tools for the carving competition.

Cost is $8 (cash only) per person.
