Suspect in random murder on B.C. bus identified

KELOWNA, B.C. - Court records identify the suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing aboard a city bus in Kelowna B.C., as a man in his mid-20s.

The attack happened early Thursday evening, when a 55-year-old passenger aboard a city bus was stabbed in the neck.

The RCMP announced over the weekend that a suspect had been arrested and faces a charge of second-degree murder, though they have yet to formally release his name.

Online court records associated with the police file number concerning the stabbing case identify the suspect as Tyler Jack Newton, who was born in 1990.

Newton is scheduled to appear in court in Kelowna on Monday to face the allegations against him.
