Trick-or-treaters will be a bit chilly but dry in the Okanagan and Kamloops this Halloween.

The expected high for Penticton, Kelowna, and Vernon on Thursday, Oct. 31 is 7 Celsius and the low in the evening is expected to be -1 C.

Kamloops will be slightly warmer with a high of 8 C and a low of 2 C, according to Environment Canada forecasters.

Rain is expected to come through the region Wednesday but it should dry up by Thursday morning leaving cloudy skies to set the spooky mood.

The hoards of candy seekers should stay dry since the region is not expecting any rain during typical trick-or-treating hours this Halloween.

Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan said this Halloween’s weather is pretty typical.

“We’ll probably have a few clouds in the hood, but nothing should be lingering from the showers on Wednesday,” he said. “By Thursday, things are going to be more or less dried up.”

The most extremely cold Halloween in the B.C. Interior was 1984 where the Okanagan saw lows of roughly -15 C and Kamloops saw -17 C.

Kelowna should be mostly cloudy and 7 C when trick-or-treaters set out around 6 p.m. and it will drop to 5 C around 8 p.m., according to The Weather Network forecast.

Vernon should have similar weather around 7 C at 6 p.m. dropping to 4 C around 8 p.m. and there is a small chance of showers earlier in the day.

Penticton is also expecting temperatures around 7 C at 6 p.m. falling to around 5 C at 8 p.m.

Kamloops will have a balmier trick-or-treating experience at 11 C at 6 p.m. dropping to 8 C at 8 p.m. with a slight chance of showers earlier in the day.

Environment Canada also wants to remind drivers taking the Okanagan Connector and other mountain passes to ensure they have winter tires and be aware of anticipated snowy conditions this week.
