Buffalo calf shot and killed with arrow at ranch in Merritt

CONTENT ADVISORY

A buffalo calf was shot and killed with an arrow at a ranch in Merritt and RCMP are hoping the public can help them find the poacher.

Merritt RCMP were called to the ranch after the calf was found dead, Nov. 28, shot with an arrow by an unknown suspect, according to an RCMP media release.

Evidence at the scene suggested the calf had been killed within a couple days prior.

"Poaching is not tolerated in this community," Sgt. Josh Roda said in a release. "Our local ranchers are business owners trying to earn a living and incidents like this have a negative effect on that."

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
