It didn’t take fire crews in Penticton long to extinguish a brush fire last night.

Thick smoke could be seen coming from the south end of Doc's Golf Centre, though the fire was on Penticton Indian Band land near the KVR trail.

The call came in at 7:47 p.m. on July 6, according to fire chief Larry Watkinson. The response included two apparatus, seven firefighters from the Penticton Fire Department as well as members of the PIB Fire Department.

“We were on scene approximately 15 mins and released by PIB who were in command of the incident,” Watkinson said in an email.

The fire burned an area approximately 50 feet by 50 feet.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
