Twenty bronze vases were stolen from a cemetery in Kelowna earlier this month and police are looking for help with the investigation.

The thefts at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery happened some time between Feb. 6 and Feb. 15, according to an RCMP media release.

The 20 vases were mounted to a wall with adhesive to allow people to place flowers where their loved ones were laid to rest. The gates get locked at night for vehicles but foot traffic is not restricted.

“It’s difficult to understand how someone could commit a crime like this and be so disrespectful towards the deceased, and their grieving loved ones,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.

Anybody who can help with this investigation is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file 2023-8573.
