Brocklehurst robbery victim hit with bear spray

KAMLOOPS - Two people were bear sprayed in a cell phone robbery Wednesday evening in Brocklehurst.

A female bear sprayed another female and stole her cell phone around 7:40 p.m., Aug. 5, in the area of Parkcrest Avenue and Schreiner Street. A male witness tried to go after the suspects and was bear sprayed as well, according to Const. Jason Epp of Kamloops RCMP.

Epp says additional witnesses were able to direct police to the suspects, who were taken into custody without further incident. The suspects are being held in custody and are expected to appear in court this morning.

The victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The cell phone was recovered and returned to the female victim.
