According to the police, it appears to be a grenade or a military smoke grenade. The RCMP is treating the item as live ordnance and have cordoned off the area. The E Div RCMP Explosive Demolition Unit has been contacted, according to Preto, and will attend to secure the device.

The police are asking the public to stay away from the area.
