Kamloops will soon be getting its very first boutique charcuterie and cheese shop, right downtown on Victoria Street.

The Cure Culinary Provisions will provide locals will all Canadian fine cheeses and meats, along with delicacies like preserves, antipastos, and spices.

“It specializes in locally made and Canadian sourced cheese,” owner Nicole Mackie said.

"A large part of that focus is educating people on where their food comes from and the people that are making it.”

Mackie also owns Salty Fig Catering Co., and decided to expand and take advantage of a niche market in Kamloops.

In addition to specialty foods, The Cure will also carry locally made kitchen supplies like serving utensils and cheese boards.

"The whole point is back to basics kitchen utensils and tools," she said.

If all goes well, the shop will be open in February 2021. In the future, Mackie hopes to add an educational element to The Cure.

"We have hope that once things have settled down with COVID it can be a learning hub as well," she said. "Just making food and the kitchen approachable, and not so scary for people."

The Cure Culinary Provisions is located at 607 Victoria St. To follow updates from The Cure, click here for their Facebook page.
