KELOWNA - Electronic cigarettes may be the way of the future, but many people still prefer to smoke the old fashioned way.

Smokers face a recurring question every time they're done with a cigarette: Where to dispose of the butt?

Many smokers will find an ashtray, but some will simply grind them under their foot or flick them onto the ground.

Cigarette butts on the ground become a common sight as the weather warms up and a recent social media photo captured the sheer volume of butts littering our streets.

A photo posted to the Kelowna Reddit page shows a bottle filled with cigarette butts and the poster claims they were collected from City Park in one day on Saturday, May 11.

Commenters expressed their disgust for the number of butts they see left lying on the streets, while also expressing a desire for more ashtrays in the city to cut down on the litter.
