Book now, travel later campaign means worry-free Penticton vacation planning

Travel Penticton is creating an innovative campaign to provide an incentive for vacationers to book early for vacations this year.

A Penticton tourism groups wants visitors to the region to be able to book a vacation without having to worry about potential cancellation issues.

Travel Penticton member and services coordinator Paige Thomas says they trying to find out what local policies are with respect to early booking incentives, as well as cancellation policies.

Once the travel organization has acquired the information, they plan to develop a "risk free" travel planning campaign to encourage visitors to book now and feel confident in booking their future travel plans without risk of losing out on their deposits should they have to cancel their trip, according to a Travel Penticton press release issued yesterday, Feb. 25.

The idea came up as a way to encourage early bookings in what promises to be another uncertain year for tourism due to ongoing concerns from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We thought it would be beneficial for getting people to start booking and making their travel plans, and thinking of Penticton for that,” Thomas says.

Accommodators and tour operators are being asked to send Travel Penticton their most up-to-date cancellation and refund policies by March 1, along with any details of early booking incentives.

Policy information can be sent Thomas via this email address: paige.thomas@visitpenticton.com.
