Residents using the Lakeview water system in West Kelowna have been issued a boil water notice after a mechanical failure at the 45-year-old chlorination facility at Rose Valley Reservoir.
Anyone with a utility bill account number starting with 455 is on that system, states a City of West Kelowna press release. The City does not say how many customers are impacted.
“All customers must use boiled water, or seek an alternative safe source, for brushing teeth, drinking, making baby formula, preparing food and beverages and washing fruits and vegetables,” the City says in the release.
They can get free water at the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until further notice.
Updates are available on the City of West Kelowna’s web page here.
