KAMLOOPS – RCMP are warning businesses in Kamloops to be on the lookout for counterfeit $20 American bills.

RCMP say there have been over 10 reports of the bogus bills being passed at businesses in the city since Nov. 24.

“Kamloops RCMP asks employers to discuss counterfeit detection with their employees,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release. “Employees who do cash transactions should take their time and do a cursory inspection of all bills, especially American money.”

Shelkie says employees shouldn’t accept money that “seems suspicious.”

Police are asking businesses that have accepted US $20 bills that may be counterfeit to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.
