The body of the worker killed in an underground mudslide at the New Afton Mine has been recovered.
New Afton Mine's parent company New Gold Inc. has confirmed in a media release the contract driller was recovered at around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 3.
Although the company is not releasing the man's name, his family has confirmed that Kamloops resident Raymond Rosenberg, 35, was killed in the mudslide.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the contractor employee," New Gold said in the release.
The company has also arranged grief counselling for all employees and contractors.
Rosenberg was caught in what the company calls a mud rush incident early Tuesday morning. He was killed and two others were injured.
