Body found in Peterson Creek

KAMLOOPS - A man's body was found in Peterson Creek in Kamloops yesterday evening and the B.C. Coroners Service has taken over the investigation from RCMP.

Police say just after 5 p.m., July 6, a person was walking through Peterson Creek and contacted Kamloops RCMP to report they had located a person who did not appear to be breathing.

When officers arrived they found the body of a man. The death does not appear to be suspicious, according to a RCMP media release. The victim had not been deceased for an extended period of time, police say.

The victim has been identified, but his name and hometown have not been released. The cause of death has not been released either.

The Coroners Service is investigating the man's death.
