Body found in Kamloops dumpster

Kamloops RCMP officers and the coroner are investigating after a body was found in a dumpster in the 1900 block of Curlew Drive.

RCMP and the coroner are investigating after a body was found in a dumpster in Kamloops.

After it was reported to police last night, April 20, officers confirmed there was a body in the dumpster around 11:30 p.m., according to an RCMP media release.

The dumpster is located between two apartments in the 1900 block of Curlew Drive.

“A police presence remains on scene and in the area while officers work to determine whether the death is suspicious,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Police have the scene taped off with a tent over the dumpster. Several officers are stationed in the parking lot.

Neighbours in the area told iNFOnews.ca they didn't hear or see anything before police arrived last night.

The investigation is in its very early stages. Officers were questioning people at the motels behind the Curlew Apartments this morning, including the Tournament Inn and the Lamplighter Motel.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-13551.
