KAMLOOPS - A body discovered by Kamloops Domtar employees yesterday has not yet been recovered from the site.
Yesterday at approximately 3 p.m., March 7, Kamloops RCMP were notified that a body had been discovered in one of the ponds on Mission Flats Road, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release.
Kamloops RCMP's serious crime unit, the forensic identification section, and the B.C. Coroners Service attended.
Forensic specialists are currently processing the scene, Shelkie says. Once the body has been removed, an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and time of death and the person's identity.
At this time it's not known what the gender or age of the body is.
Kamloops RCMP are securing the site until the body has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing.
