SICAMOUS – A man is badly injured and another man is missing after a boating accident on Shuswap Lake Saturday.

RCMP has confirmed there was a crash and the underwater recovery team, air services and the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue are helping to search for the missing man in the Cinnemousan Narrows area near Hungry Cove.

Police say the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. when a lone 45-foot boat crashed. One male was able to seek assistance from passing house boaters in the morning. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The boater’s two dogs were safely recovered though a 51-year-old male from Alberta remains missing.

A police helicopter has been flying in the Hungry Cove area of the lake where the crash happened, the owner of The Marina in Sicamous said Sunday afternoon. The RCMP are using her marina to dock their boats.

“Hopefully we have some good news out of this. Not a body,” she said.

She heard it was a boat out of Full Speed Rentals and Marina in Sicamous.

When contacted by phone, the owner of Full Speed refused to answer any questions about the crash.

The boat has been seized and secured and the investigation into the cause continues, along with the search for the missing man.
