Blue skies prevail; smoky sky alert lifted in Kamloops, Okanagan

September 20, 2020 - 2:50 PM

Breathe in, breathe out.

The special air quality statement for the South Thompson, Okanagan, Boundary and North Thompson has finally been lifted.

Environment Canada said smoke began clearing across the western half of Vancouver Island early Saturday, and by Sunday it was a lot better in the Southern Interior.

For the better part of two weeks thick smoky air from wildfires burning in California, Oregon and Washington state have smothered the valley and the smoke has moved east.
