Wednesday, November 13, 2013 vs. Medicine Hat Tigers – 3-1 Loss

The Tigers scored twice on the power play en route to a 3-1 win over the Blazers. The Tigers went up 2-0 after two periods, and Sam Grist gave the Blazers a chance scoring in the third period to make it 2-1. The Tigers came back and scored shortly after hanging on for a 3-1 win over the Blazers. Taran Kozun played well with 31 saves in the loss. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 


Saturday, November 16, 2013 vs. Portland Winterhawks – 7-3 Loss

The Blazers held a 2-1 lead, but the Winterhawks scored at will in a 7-3 win over the Blazers. Chase Souto scored twice with both goals coming on the power play via great passes from Josh Connolly. Cole Ully had the other goal corralling a rebound and scoring. Bolton Pouliot took the loss in goal making 36 saves. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 


Movember Campaign Coming to a Close

The Kamloops Blazers are pleased to participate in the Movember campaign. The Blazers have been split into two teams and have joined forces with Tommy Guns Original Barber Shop – Kamloops and Kamloops Harley Davidson to see who can raise the most money!

Local Filipino Community to Accept Donations Tuesday Night

The Kamloops Filipino Canadian Association will be set up on the concourse at the front entrance to accept donations after a devastating typhoon hit the Philippines last week. They will be accepting cash donations, as well as non-perishable goods such as summer clothes, soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, canned foods, hygienic goods, linen sheets, towels, etc.

Alumni Update: Joel Edmundson

Joel Edmundson (2012-2013) has been playing his first professional season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, the affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. Edmundson was drafted by the Blues in 2011 and signed with them in February 2013.

Edmundson has played 14 games this season and has scored one goal and has 27 penalty minutes so far this season. The 20-year-old recently scored his first career professional goal and was the game’s second star in a 3-1 win over the Iowa Wild on November 13th. 

The Brandon native played 34 games with the Blazers after being acquired from Moose Jaw on December 7th. Edmundson had seven goals and 17 points in the regular season. He proved to be a big help in the playoffs with three goals and eight points as the Blazers made it to the Western Conference Final for the first time in 13 seasons. 


Prospect Update: Quinn Benjafield

Forward Quinn Benjafield (1st round, 2013) is playing this season with the Vancouver NW Giants of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League.

The 15-year-old is having a good start to the season with 3 goals, 13 assists for 16 points in 13 games this season.

The Giants are in second place in the 11-team league with a record of 12-3-1 this season.


Chyzowski and Bast Headed to World U-17 Hockey Challenge

Two 16-year-olds have been selected to represent their respective regions at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia. 

Nick Chyzowski will play for Team Pacific (B.C. / Alberta) and Spencer Bast will play for Team West (Saskatchewan / Manitoba).

Rehill and Harlacher Listed as Prospects in Central Scouting

The Kamloops Blazers have two players listed in Central Scouting’s November Watch List. Defensemen Ryan Rehill and Edson Harlacher are both listed as ‘C’ prospects which means they are potential 4th/5th/6th round picks in the 2014 NHL Draft.
