Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have made a trade acquiring 17-year-old forward Matt Revel, a third round draft pick in 2016 and a conditional second round draft pick in exchange for 17-year-old forward Mitch Lipon, the rights to 17-year-old defenceman Jordan Thomson and a first round draft pick in 2015.

Revel is Saskatoon’s third leading scorer with nine goals, 16 assists and 25 points in 43 games this season with the Blades. The Abbotsford native had 19 points in 61 games with the Blades last season as a 16-year-old. He also played two games in the 2013 Memorial Cup which was hosted by the Blades.

Lipon has suited up for 31 games this season recording seven points with the Blazers. Thomson had seven assists in 20 games this season before leaving the Blazers in early November.

“Matt is a young and talented player that is going to be an important part of this hockey club over the next few seasons,” commented General Manager, Craig Bonner. “He has a tremendous skill set and is an elite skater. We believe he can step right in and contribute immediately.”

“We’d like to thank Mitch for his contributions to the Blazers and wish him luck with the Saskatoon Blades,” Bonner said.

Revel will join the Blazers in Spokane and suit up for Friday night’s game against the Chiefs. He will make his home debut on Saturday, January 11 when the Blazers host the Prince George Cougars.
