OSOYOOS - An investigation is underway into a fire that destroyed a home in Osoyoos last night.
Osoyoos Fire Chief Rick Jones says crews responded to the house fire on Meadowlark Drive at about 11:10 p.m., Nov. 14.
Jones says the fire department is looking for the cause of the blaze which destroyed the house.
“It burned pretty hot in one area,” he says, noting 23 members fought the fire.
Residents on the property were staying in a motorhome behind the residence, so no one was in the house at the time of the fire, Jones says.
A RCMP officer was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and has since been released.
Firefighters were on scene for more than four hours last night and returned to the scene around 8 a.m. this morning, Nov. 15, to douse a flare up at the site.
