KELOWNA - It's been a great year so far for Big White Ski Resort, with a record snowfall, plenty of business and now, Ski Canada Magazine has ranked it among the top Canadian world-class ski destinations.
"We collect anecdotes all year from readers, writers and ski industry types" Ski Canada Magazine editor Iain MacMillan said in a media release. "And Big White always does well."
Big White ranks among the top 12 for 'Best Powder'. It's no wonder with 56 centimetres of fresh powder falling in less than 36 hours during a record-breaking event. The resort also made the list for 'Best Vertical Run' with a height of 777 metres.
Big White can boast winning 'Best Parental Break' for their door to door kidd shuttle service and 'Most Romantic Road Less Traveled' for the horse drawn sleigh rides they offer.
Off the hill, the resort's apres ski watering hole Sessions Taphouse and Grill received the 'Best Million Dollar Makeover' honour following a renovation that recently included a fully licensed deck with outdoor fire-pit.
The Blarney Stone pub was named 'Best Place to be Named Patrick', because on St. Patrick's Day the pub offers free lunches to anyone sharing a name with the Saint.
In 2014, Big White earned the people's choice for Family Ski Resort of the Year.
