Big White's signature pride event has been cancelled.

Rebellious Unicorns Production Company Inc. announced the cancellation of Peak Pride at Big White Resort, which was scheduled for April 1 to 5.

"This announcement aligns with the directives from the government of Canada and the province of British Columbia regarding non-essential travel and social distancing measures to combat the spread of COVID-19," the company announced in a press release.

"(Rebellious Unicorns Production Company) strongly feels that it is prudent to defer to the public health experts in this matter. While this is disappointing, the health and safety of our attendees, performers, sponsors and the public at large is the top priority," reads the release.

"For anyone who has purchased tickets to any of our events at Peak Pride, we want to thank you for your support. We will be refunding the purchases of all tickets, and are working on expediting this process with our ticketing partner as quickly as possible. However, with the volume of events being cancelled, it may take some time and we ask for your patience as we navigate this challenging situation."

Any accommodations arrangements for Peak Pride will have been made directly through Big White Central Reservations; they may be contacted directly on 250-765-8888 or by email cenres@bigwhite.com.
