An additional 19 cases of COVID-19 are being linked to the Big White cluster, raising the total number of cases to 162.

In an Interior Health update about the cluster, it said 162 known COVID-19 cases linked to this cluster, 107 reside on Big White Mountain. There are currently 29 cases active and in isolation and 133 individuals have recovered.

"The risk remains low for families and individuals visiting Big White Mountain who follow public health guidance," according to health officials. "In other words, it is safe to go to Big White when you stick to your immediate household bubble and avoid socializing and gathering, etc."

Interior Health is continuing outreach COVID-19 testing throughout the Big White community and environmental public health inspections.

Last week, when the provincial health officer extended the order limiting social gatherings for another month, Big White Ski Resort cancelled all bookings from non-local customers until February. The travel advisory remains in place until Feb. 5, and the province asks residents to avoid non-essential travel including outside of B.C. and between regions.

The next update on this outbreak will be Friday, Jan. 15.
