The COVID-19 community cluster at Big White Ski Resort has grown.
Interior Health said in a media release today, Dec. 29, an additional 15 cases have been identified at the ski resort, bringing the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in the community cluster to 111. That’s up from a total of 96 cases reported on Dec. 22.
Interior Health said 77 individuals involved in the cluster reside on the mountain. Currently 17 cases are active and the people are in isolation, and 94 individuals have recovered.
"We continue to see a small increase in cases, but these are connected to other cases so are not unexpected," the release from IH reads. "It’s important for people to continue following the safety measures and doing their part to limit further exposures."
Interior Health continues to remind Big White residents to avoid social gatherings and limit social gatherings to household bubbles, adding the risk remains low for families and individuals visiting Big White as long as they follow public health directives.
Interior Health is continuing an outreach COVID-19 testing program throughout the Big White community.
