Beware of thin ice

As the temperature begins to drop, lakes and ponds will begin freezing over in our region. West Kelowna Fire Rescue wants to remind residents to stay safe near water areas.

The recommended thickness of ice for safe skating is 15 centimetres for individuals and 20 centimetres for groups, according to the Red Cross. For more ice safety information, please visit www.redcross.ca.

If you witness someone fall into ice, call 9-1-1 for help immediately.
