Beer festival highlights list of things to do in Penticton this weekend

PENTICTON - It’s a festival weekend in Penticton with the Okanagan Fest of Ale and the Kiwanis Music Festival taking place in the Peach City.

The 24th Okanagan Fest of Ale gets underway today, April 12 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, and continuing through Saturday, April 13 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

More than 60 craft brewers provide a selection of over 175 crafted beers, ciders and cask ales. There’s also many food vendors and live entertainment at one of the longest running and largest beer festivals in the Northwest.

At the Friday Night Live Concert Series you can listen to cool jazz by Sax Among Friends. The concert gets underway at 7 p.m. today, April 12, at the Summerland Arts Theatre. It will cost is $10.

The Penticton Kiwanis Music Festival continues over the weekend with speech arts at the Alliance Church and dance competition at Cleland Theatre. For more information, see the Kiwanis Music Festival website here.

The Many Hats Theatre Company presents The Odd Couple, Female Version at the Cannery Stage with performances today, April 12 through Sunday, April 14. Friday and Saturday showings are at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The show is a retake on Neil Simon’s classic play “The Odd Couple.” Tickets are $22 to $25.

The Front Street Gallery presents an Afternoon Tea and Silent Auction on Sunday, April 14 at the Front Street Gallery. The fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society will have tea, baked goods and a silent auction. There are three seatings to the event at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 and can be reserved at the gallery or by calling 778-476-0016.

Wine pairing events continue at the Wine Experience Centre this weekend with the Wine + Chocolate = Happiness tasting at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and the Wine and Cheese “The Perfect Pairing” event at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Each event will set you back $25.
