BC's Fairmont Hot Springs Resort — with Canada’s largest mineral hot springs, a hotel, golf courses, ski hill and more — has been sold.

The sale of the resort in Kootenays was announced last week by Aldesta Hotels and Resorts. It had been valued at about $50 million.

The selling price was not disclosed but Western Investor reported it was $40 million.

“We are thrilled to add the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort to our portfolio of exceptional properties,” Stuart Hammond, Aldesta’s vice-president of hotel operations, said in a news release. “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our strategy to acquire and operate properties that offer guests unforgettable experiences in some of the world’s most spectacular destinations.”

The company’s website lists five other properties that it owns. The three in BC include Harrison Hot Springs Resort, Harrison Lake Hotel and Poets Cove Resort on Pender Island.

The other two, Heron Island and Wilson Island, are near the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia.

The Fairmont resort has a 151-room hotel, RV campground, 14-run ski hill, three golf courses and a number of dining options on more than 1,200 acres.

“The company is committed to investing in the property to ensure that it continues to exceed the expectations of its guests and remains a world-class destination for many years to come,” the news release says.
