A BC woman took her former hair stylist to court after her appointment went wrong.

The two were friends before the ordeal, but Alexzandra Anzulovich said her hair was so badly bleached that she spent hundreds to fix the damage.

Although Anzulovich claimed $3,000, both for the costs and for emotional damage, the BC Civil Resolution Tribunal only awarded her $60.

Her friend Alejandra Falk was no longer a professional stylist, but agreed in November 2022 to bleach Anzulovich's hair in exchange for a free car detailing done by Anzulovich's boyfriend.

It "didn't go as planned," according to the decision.

The colouring went poorly and damaged Anzulovich's hair, which she noticed before the appointment was over.

She went to a Chatters Salon the next day for a $563 "colour reset."

Falk agreed to repay her for that appointment, but could only afford $500.

The demands for money didn't end there.

Anzulovich told the court she spent $1,100 more trying to fix her hair, going on to say it caused her emotional distress.

Falk would eventually block Anzulovich's messages as she continued to ask for repayment for the other appointments.

Anzulovich brought two other hair stylists as witnesses when she brought the dispute to court, but the tribunal couldn't determine whether her damaged hair was entirely the fault of Falk or made worse by subsequent appointments.

Falk was ordered to pay for the outstanding $63 and $3 for court costs, while the costs for subsequent appointments and Anzulovich's "emotional damage" were dismissed.
