B.C. Wildlife Park in Kamloops has announced that they will be temporarily closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The park relies on donations and revenue from park admissions in order to operate. Due to the current health situation and subsequent decrease in guests, they are unable to bear the financial burden of remaining open.

"For the betterment of the health and well-being of our team, we also had to take into consideration their ability to safely interact with our guests during transactions," stated B.C. Wildlife Park in a press release. "Additionally, with the closures of schools and daycare limitations, this created another road block for individuals on our team to maneuver."

The park will continue to look after the wildlife currently in their care.

"Our Animal Care team will continue to provide outstanding care to each and every one of our Park residents, and animals in the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre," stated the release.

B.C. Wildlife will continue to accept wildlife by appointment only, by calling 250-573-3242 ext 230, or the emergency line 250-319-1129.

The park's annual Easter Eggcitement event has also been postponed.

Further updates will be provided by B.C. Wildlife Park as more information becomes available.
