BC United has found a replacement for Renee Merrifield who announced earlier this month she was quitting politics.

Yeti Farm Creative founder Ashley Ramsay will run in the Kelowna-Mission riding under the BC United banner in the upcoming provincial election.

“I’m excited to bring experience in the tech industry and create jobs for people right here in Kelowna to the Legislature, with a focus on creating opportunities for all residents, supporting local businesses, and fostering innovation,” Ramsay said in a party media release issued today, May 19.

“I am committed to listening to the community and working tirelessly to address our most pressing needs.”

Incumbent MLA Merrifield previously said she’s leaving politics to return to her company Troika Developments.

"The pressing issue of the housing crisis calls for dedicated and immediate action, and I believe that my leadership at the company I founded, Troika, is where I can make the most substantial impact," she said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ramsay has been involved in provincial and local organizations, has advocated for economic diversification, technological innovation and educational development, according to the party’s media release.

The BC election will be held on or before Oct. 19.
