Adam Wilson, one of the five remaining nominees for the BC United candidacy in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding, has dropped out of the race.

Wilson had started his nomination process six months ago, but he says changing circumstances have led him to drop out of the race, now leaving four nominees for the candidacy.

"Last week, I made the difficult decision to withdraw from the BC United nomination for Kelowna–Lake Country–Coldstream, despite being approved as a candidate,” Wilson says in a written statement sent to iNFOnews.ca today, Oct. 23. “Unfortunately, six months later, recent changes for me and my family have resulted in this no longer being the right time to be battling in a nomination election.”

Wilson remains a BC United advocate stating his experience door knocking has shown a readiness for change in the riding.

“After knocking on over 7,000 doors in our community, I am convinced that people are ready for change and excited about the new ideas and fresh perspectives that BC United and Kevin Falcon are championing.”

Wilson has not endorsed another nominee but will support the candidate whenever they are chosen.

“I look forward to helping the successful nominee win the 2024 election and usher in a new BC United government."

The election for the BC United candidate will take part within the party’s riding association, the remaining candidates are Bal Grewal, Amanda Shatzko, Binny Boparai and Pavneet Singh.

The provincial election will take place on or before Oct. 19, 2024.
