B.C. Transit announces free fare for at least the next 30 days

B.C. Transit is dropping fares for buses in all of its service communities for the next 30 days in an effort to increase social distancing among riders.

Part of that effort is to allow people to enter through rear doors, which also makes collecting fares difficult.

"This is all part of the social distancing piece, while trying to maintain service in this unprecedented time," B.C. Transit Communications Manager Jonathon Dyck told iNFONEWS.ca.

"We're working hard to make sure that we're taking the safety of our customers, operators and staff very seriously."

BC Transit will continue to adjust depending on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, and encourage passengers to check their website for current updates.

Those who need access to the front ramp will still be able to use it.
