A missing member of a B.C. search and rescue team has been found dead, according to the latest information from the B.C. Search and Rescue Association.

Toby Salin, a member of the Whistler Search and Rescue Society, was last seen in Pemberton on June 16.

The RCMP issued a press release Friday asking for the public's assistance to locate him.

The B.C. Rescue Association confirmed this morning, June 19, that Salin had been found dead.

"It is with a very heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Whistler SAR member, Toby Salin. Toby will be remembered for his strong commitment to SAR, his incredible work ethic and dry sense of humour. He will be missed by many," according to a post by the association.

"Toby came home to rest in the arms of those who he chose as friends and colleagues."

Whistler Search and Rescue president Brad Sills said Salin was recovered at 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Sills said he was a "deeply loved" Whistler Search and Rescue member and volunteered his time for more than eight years.
