A BC nurse who conned more than $20,000 out of his employer has been suspended for four months.

According to a May 28 BC College of Nurses and Midwives decision, Abbotsford licenced practical nurse Jaston Dhaliwal was paid for approximately 47 full-time shifts that he didn't work.

The scam netted him $20,500.

The nursing regular says the fraud and time theft took place between March 2023 to July 2023.

It's not clear where Dhaliwal worked when this took place but the regulator lists his primary employer as the Fraser Regional Correction Centre.

Along with the suspension, the nurse has to complete education on professionalism and a "comprehensive" ethics course.

There is no mention of whether Dhaliwal will be made to pay the money back.
