Vancouver man Gary Muchula won $10.2 million in the Oct.20, 2021 Lotto 6/49 draw, according to a release by BCLC.

He purchased his ticket from London Drugs at Park Royal and was out picking up a newspaper when he decided to check his ticket at a gas station.

“I didn’t have my glasses and I thought, ‘that can’t be right,’” Muchula said in the release. “I checked it three or four times and went up to the girl at the counter and said ‘I’m not sure, but I think I won the lottery!’”

Muchula told his partner the news first.

“Really? You’re not kidding?” she said in the release.

The football lover plans to be in Barbados for Christmas and attend the biggest football game of the year in February, the Superbowl.

Muchula is the second British Columbian player to win a Lotto 6/49 jackpot in October.

So far in 2021, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $76 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
