Realtors in the BC Interior are donating $500,000 in support of wild relief in the province.

“We know that this does not even come close to what relief is needed, but we hope that this contribution will provide some much-needed support to all the communities impacted by these wildfires and the many lives of those living in them who require assistance at this heartbreaking time," Association of Interior Realtors president Chelsea Mann said in a media release issued today, Sept. 8.

Many of their members' lives and work were directly impacted by the wildfires and some even lost their homes, the association said, including a volunteer firefighter who lost their home.

The association said it is committed to helping the communities hurting from the wildfire.

"We are diverting our September member dues to wildfire relief efforts, with the association matching the amount," reads the release. "The over $500,000 will be split equally between the Salvation Army and the Canadian Red Cross."

The association has 2,600 members in the Interior of BC from Revelstoke to Kamloops, through the Okanagan, the Kootenays and up to South Peace River regions.
