There were 867 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in B.C. in the last 24 hours, the highest daily count since late-April.
That was back in the days when daily counts often topped 1,000 with a peak on April 8 of 1,293.
There were 350 new cases recorded in the Interior Health region in the last 24 hours, according to a Ministry of Health news release issued today, Aug. 27.
That’s far higher than the cases counts in the region in April but is not a record. That was set Aug. 13 with 376 new cases in Interior Health.

The rest of the new cases were in the Fraser Health region with 228 new cases, 165 in Vancouver Coastal, 63 on Vancouver Island and 61 in the Northern Health region.
Interior Health has 2,190 of the province’s 5,657 active cases. There are 159 B.C. residents in hospital with COVID, 84 of whom are in intensive care.
Three more deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, all in Interior Health, bringing the provincial total to 1,807.
The vaccination rate for those over the age of 12 has reached 83.9 per cent for first doses and 75.8 per cent for second doses.
